Welcome to the Division 24, District 8ER Web Site

USCGAUX LOGO The U.S. Congress passed a bill in 1939 to aid the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) in the accomplishment of their many missions. The organization was titled "U.S. Coast Guard Reserve" and to be administered by the USCG Commandant. In 1941 as World War II was putting demands on the USCG, congress created a paid uniformed reserve force to support the coast guard missions at which time, the present title of "U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary" was adopted for the unpaid uniformed volunteer force. U.S. Code, Title 14, Part II, Chapter 23, § 821.
As the test of time had proved that the notion of a volunteer uniformed force to aid the USCG worked well, the expansion of the force resulted in the chartering of a division to cover the riverine of North Alabama. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary (USCGAUX) Division 082-24, was chartered on 04 June 1969 as USCGAUX Division North Alabama
The division keeps watch and performs safety patrols on the Tennessee River over its entire course through Alabama and Mississippi; assisting the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Sector Ohio Valley in its mission.
The division presently is made up of 5 flotillas covering the North Alabama Riverine from east to west. The flotillas include:
   2407 ~ Scottsboro, Alabama.
   2402 ~ Guntersville, Alabama.
   2405 ~ Whitesburg - Ditto Landing, (i.e., Huntsville, Alabama).
   2406 ~ Redstone, (i.e., Huntsville, Alabama).
   2404 ~ Florence, Alabama.

It has been noted and recognized that USCGAUX Division 082-24, North Alabama is a very proactive force with its members proud to be an effective and functional member of the USCG team.
